Play the whistle goes the old saying, and Naughton could do with being reminded of it after stopping when he felt Riyad Mahrez had failed to keep the ball in. He got nowhere near the Leicester man as a result and the cross ended up in the Swansea net. A key mistake.

FEDERICO FERNANDEZ

Was furious with himself for conceding the own goal and had his work cut out as Leicester countered effectively throughout and the Swansea defence was exposed. Played Mahrez onside for Leicester’s second.

ALFIE MAWSON

Most strikers would have been proud of his turn and finish to give Swansea hope, and was solid enough at the back even though Jamie Vardy’s pace caused him problems. Involved in the mix-up for Leicester’s second.

MARTIN OLSSON

A mixed bag. The full-back was far more decisive and assertive going forward and made several promising forays down the left, only for Leicester to punish his ambition by targeting the areas vacated by him on the break.

RENATO SANCHES

Started well. Saw plenty of the ball, and made some incisive forward passes. As the game went on he became lax in possession and was caught out of position by Leicester’s counter-attacking on several occasions. Efforts at set-piece delivery did little to improve Swansea in that area.

LEON BRITTON (CAPTAIN)

With Swansea lacking control of the game it made for a difficult afternoon for the skipper and he was unable to dictate terms in the middle of the park. Caught the wrong side on a few occasions by Leicester’s pace. Taken off at the break.

TOM CARROLL

Set-piece delivery still needs work and he looked far less certain of himself here than he did against Huddersfield last week. Hesitant in possession.

LUCIANO NARSINGH

Did well last week but was on the periphery this week. Did not have many chances to run at Christ Fuchs but even when he did he made little impact before being withdrawn.

TAMMY ABRAHAM

Minimal service made for a frustrating afternoon. Was more of a factor once Swansea gained some momentum through Mawson’s goal but hard to recall him having a sight of goal.

JORDAN AYEW

He can frustrate but before the introduction of Dyer he looked the only man who might make something happen for Swansea. Took some wrong options in good situations after the break.
