Judge me at end of season – Clement

-

SWANS boss Paul Clement last night rejected any notion the struggling club are spiralling into a Premier League crisis.

The Swans are currently above the relegation zone on goal difference after taking eight points from their first nine league fixtures of the season, while they have lost five from six on home soil in all competitions.

It has not been the start head coach Clement would have expected, but the current position is still far healthier than when he took over the reins at the Liberty Stadium in January.

But at yesterday’s Swans press briefing, it was put to the 45-year-old that clubs level on points with Swansea – such as Everton and West Ham – have been described as being in crisis.

Clement believes it is far too early for that term to be bandied about.

“I believe I should be judged at the end of the season after 38 games,” he said.

“We are on a run where we have not picked up a massive amount of points. Last season we had a run of six games where we picked up one point, there was a lot of talk that Swansea were going to go down.

“It was said by pundits, it was said by media and it was said by ex-players. Then we went and won four out of our last five games, the other result was a draw at Manchester United.

“I have been around this game long enough to know you have got to keep level-headed. There are always good moments around the corner, assuming you remain positive.”
