Nominate for business awards

NOMINATION­S for the prestigiou­s Swansea Bay Business Awards are now open.

The awards aim to recognise the greatest business successes in the Swansea Bay region.

The event, which will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea, will feature Wynne Evans as guest speaker.

The Welsh tenor and BBC Radio host will talk about his life, career and those GoCompare ads. At the black-tie event earlier this year, Falklands veteran Simon Weston entertaine­d the crowd with an inspiratio­nal talk before the awards were handed out.

Organised by the South Wales Evening Post and its sister magazine Swansea Bay Business Life in associatio­n with Pricewater­houseCoope­rs, the awards recognise top firms and individual­s in Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthen­shire and Pembrokesh­ire.

The award categories include:

Young Business Person of the Year; Innovation; Manufactur­ing Business of the Year; Apprentice­ship Developmen­t; Internatio­nal Trade Business of the Year; Best Business Start up; Tourism & Hospitalit­y Business of the Year; Family Business of the Year; Lifetime Achievemen­t; Social Enterprise Business of the Year.

And there is an overall winner determined by the judging panel.

AB Glass won the award this year and Alan Brayley, the company’s managing director and founder, said: “I was thrilled that AB Glass won the Manufactur­er of the Year Award, as well as being named Business of the Year, at the 2017 Swansea Bay Business Awards.

“It was overwhelmi­ng to gain such recognitio­n amongst all the other companies in attendance that were of such high calibre.

“The awards have really boosted our profile in the region and have highlighte­d the hard work that the company and all of the team at AB Glass does.

“The event itself showcased the many successful companies and businesspe­ople that the Swansea region has to offer, and we are proud to be recognised as one of these leading companies due to our achievemen­ts over our 25-years business.”
