Cardiff Airport named one of best in the UK
CARDIFF Airport has been named as the best airport with under three million passengers in the UK at an awards ceremony hosted by the Airport Operators’ Association.
The AOA is a trade organisation founded to represent the voice of UK airports and to influence governments, regulators and opinion-formers at national and international level in order to drive the industry forward.
The awards ceremony is one of few aviation-focused events that bring many key players together under one roof, including senior representatives from the UK airports sector, government officials and regulators, industry stakeholders, the media and aviation solution providers and suppliers.
Cardiff Airport beat competition from other UK regional airports to be named Best Airport with under three million passengers.
Roger Lewis, chairman of Cardiff Airport, pictured, said: “This is a great tribute from our airline colleagues which recognises the hard work of the team at Cardiff Airport over this past year.
“Most importantly, we thank our passengers for their fantastic support. On behalf of the board, I send our congratulations to everyone who has helped deliver this outstanding accolade.”
Deb Barber, CEO of Cardiff Airport, added: “To be recognised in this way by a leading industry body really is testament to how far we have come.
“We’ve been on a real journey of transformation in recent years, which continues, and with many more exciting developments still to come.
“It seems so fitting that Qatar Airways, which was named the World’s Best Airline in 2017, will soon be joining the UK’s Best Airport in its size category.”
