Inspiring employees and teams honoured at awards
TWO outstanding individuals and eight teams have been honoured in awards recognising the best in HR learning, and people management practice across Wales.
The winners of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) in Wales People Management Awards 2017 were honoured at a recent ceremony held at The National Museum Cardiff.
Head of CIPD Wales Lesley Richards said: “We have been delighted by the enthusiasm shown, the number of entries, and the outstanding quality of the work being showcased. Our fantastic judges have commented on the challenge they faced in selecting the winners.”
Practitioner of the Year, sponsored by LHH Penna, was awarded to Catrin Masling, of Cardiff-based Circle IT, who was described by her employers as making “a valuable contribution to our business and the HR function as a whole”.
The judges said: “Catrin immediately impressed with her energy, enthusiasm and confidence. The panel would all happily employ her tomorrow.”
The winner of the Outstanding Contribution to the Profession in Wales, sponsored by law firm Hugh James, went to Jon Bridge of SA Brain & Co, who has played a key part in establishing a valuable working relationship with Cardiff and Vale College.
The judges said: “Jon is truly inspirational, not only for their immediate team and colleagues, but also the people who have gained career opportunities because of their work,” the judges said.
The eight team winners also won praise from the judges for their group ethic, impact, hard work, people development, change management, and collaborative efforts.
Speaking of the judging and the success of those who won, Ms Richards added: “It was a tight-run thing, and the winners are truly deserving of the accolades they have been handed.
“Congratulations to them, and also to the other 20 finalists who came so close.
“The CIPD Wales awards were promoted as ‘your chance to shine’.
“Tonight, we recognise and celebrate the outstanding, groundbreaking and sometimes career-defining work that goes on in Wales.”
