Train passengers face further disruption on south Wales-London services

TRAIN passengers face more disruption on services between London and south Wales this month.

Network Rail says that plans to modernise the track by installing overhead line equipment and platform upgrades will affect rail services for three weekends in November.

On the weekends of November 4-5 and November 11-12, train services will be diverted between Patchway and Swindon.

No trains will call at Bristol Parkway, with Patchway being used on November 4-5, and Filton Abbey Wood on November 11-12. A free shuttle bus will run to connect trains to London Paddington, south Wales and Bristol Temple Meads.

Replacemen­t buses will also run between Yate, Bristol Parkway and Filton Abbey Wood.

Customers travelling from north Bristol to the Wales v Australia rugby match on Saturday, November 11, in Cardiff, are advised to use Filton Abbey Wood.

On the weekend of November 18-19, high-speed services will be diverted between Swindon and Newport, non-stop via Gloucester.

Trains from Bristol Temple Meads to Newport and Gloucester and on the Severn Beach line will also be hit.

Replacemen­t bus services will run between Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway, Bristol Temple Meads and Severn Beach and Swindon, Bristol Parkway and Newport.

Services from Bristol Parkway and Yate will have replacemen­t buses on the Saturday, and there will be replacemen­t buses between Bristol Parkway and Gloucester on Sunday.

Passengers travelling to the Wales v Georgia rugby match on Saturday, November 18, are advised no trains will run from the Bristol area to Cardiff. Coaches will run from Temple Meads to Cardiff Central, and back.
