Heat-seeking drone joins the hunt for missing lynx Lillith

-

A MISSING lynx is being hunted by a heat-seeking drone – as zoo chiefs revealed her brother is pining for her to return.

Lillith the young Eurasian lynx has been on the loose since fleeing her enclosure and has so far evaded police helicopters, tracking devices and traps.

Workers at Borth Wildlife Animal Kingdom, near Aberystwyth, have upped the hunt for Lillith and insist they are getting “closer and closer”.

And they have now employed the help of a heat-seeking drone with a specialist night scope and thermal cameras in a bid to find her.

Dozens of bait-traps with dead chickens hung inside cages to tempt her in have also been set up in the area around the zoo.

Lillith’s heartbroken brother Tyrion has been pining after her every night – desperately calling out to her in the hope she returns.

Zoo owner Tracy Tweedy, 46, said: “We have been working day and night towards recovering her safely and we are building up an accurate map of her movements around the zoo.

“We have even been following her after dark using night scopes and a thermal imaging camera on a high-flying drone.”

Lillith escaped by climbing a tree and taking “a giant leap” to jump over a fence at the zoo.

The zoo has been closed so workers can focus on the search.
