Wales overtaken by Ireland... Scots next

-

THE events of the weekend show that Ireland has overtaken Wales as a rugby nation. Scotland will be next.

I do not blame the coaches as the regions are not providing them with players ready for international rugby.

With the exception of the Scarlets the regional game is moribund. Many of the players are of Premiership quality.

I would abolish the regions and set up two entities owned and run by the WRU. These two would be west Wales based in Llanelli and east Wales based on Newport. If there was to be a third team I would give it to Mark Jones in north Wales.

Then move the Premiership to the summer to improve handling skills.

Finally we have a rugby genius in Mathew Morgan. Not only would I bring him into the Welsh team, I would play him at outside half and give him freedom to run the ball.
