Addition to Blackfords

-

SERIOUS fraud, crime and regulatory law firm Blackfords LLP has made a significant addition to its Cardiff-based team.

The Legal 500-recommended firm, which has worked on some of the country’s most high-profile, large-scale and complex serious fraud and crime cases, has welcomed solicitor Nicola Mitchard.

Ms Mitchard, from Cardiff, has over 19 years’ experience in the legal profession, having gained experience across a number of south Wales firms.

She joins Blackfords from Morgan La Roche, where she worked as a member of the regulatory/litigation team.

Ms Mitchard qualified as a solicitor after achieving a distinction in law practice at Birmingham University, followed by a masters in law at Leicester University.

She said: “Blackfords LLP is regarded as a leader in serious crime and fraud, which exceeds expectations while offering expert advice to its clients.

“I feel that my previous experience will only be strengthened thanks to the firm’s expertise in the area. I look forward to getting the opportunity to work with [Cardiff office head] Phillip Williams and his team going forwards.”

The firm has acted on the Hatton Garden safe deposit heist, the largest burglary in British legal history at £14m; the £160m mining prosecution of Celtic Energy brought by the SFO; and Operation Elveden, securing the acquittal of The Sun’s night news editor.

Industry-leading consultant and head of the Cardiff office Phillip Williams said they were pleased to welcome a solicitor of Ms Mitchard’s calibre.

He said: “Nicola will be a welcome addition to our talented team here at Blackfords LLP. Her experience will definitely strengthen our criminal and regulatory offering.

“We look forward to working with her and watching her progression within the firm.”
