PREVIEW: Feel the force at fans’ movie event

-

TO celebrate the latest instalment of Star Wars hitting cinemas next month, one fan group has organised a special event in Cardiff.

A Star Wars party is coming to the Welsh capital and fans of the franchise can dance the night away to their favourite cantina songs.

The unofficial party, which has been penned in for Wednesday, December 13, is taking place at Buffalo on Windsor Place and will kick off at 10pm.

And you don’t have to be in a galaxy far, far away to enjoy the sounds of Mos Eisley’s cantina band – as organisers say the alien musicians inspired their electroswing theme.

There are T-shirt and ticket bundles available for £12 (which are being launched soon) and regular tickets, which cost £4 each, can be bought now from ticketsource.co.uk.

You’ll also be able to get your hands on a mini LED lightsaber, which are available for free on a first come, first serve basis.

Organisers also say that while the fancy dress is not compulsory, it will be “welcome”.

The event is being organised by Fanagram, a group dedicated to all things “geeky”, run by Shaun Lane and Gareth While.

Shaun, 30, said: “We’re huge Star Wars fans. It fits in with students finishing uni at the end of term, it’s just before Christmas and a couple of days before the film Star Wars: The Last Jedi is in cinemas comes out. from Friday, December 15. Last night’s National Lottery Lotto winning numbers are 02, 11, 22, 36, 51, 59. The Bonus Ball is 07. The Thunderball winning numbers are 02, 20, 30, 32, 37. The Thunderball is 03.

“I think that Star Wars is one of those things that’s quite geeky but captures a lot of people’s imaginations – it’s really accessible.”

He added: “We are trying to help make Cardiff become a hub for all things geeky and nerdy.

“We are called Fanagram. We have experienced things like board gaming groups and VR events and so much more in London, but feel that south Wales, and particularly Cardiff, has so much potential to become a geek capital.”
