Barclay looks set for move

-

SCARLETS star John Barclay has agreed a move back to Scotland next season, according to reports.

The Scotland skipper has been with the Welsh region since leaving Glasgow Warriors in 2013 and helped the Scarlets lift the Guinness PRO12 title last season.

But it looks as if the 31-year-old, who is poised to lead his country against the All Blacks at Murrayfield on Saturday evening, has agreed to join Edinburgh next summer.

Edinburgh are expected to formally announce his signing next week, say the BBC.

Barclay was first called up to the Scotland squad in October 2004, at the age of just 18, by then-head coach Matt Williams

He made his Test debut in the 2007 World Cup defeat by New Zealand

He helped the Warriors to the Pro12 play-offs in 2013, before leaving Glasgow for Scarlets, whom he captained to the Pro12 title last season when regular captain Ken Owens was out injured.

Barclay’s return to his homeland next summer will be the second high profile departure from the west Wales region with Ireland’s Tadhg Beirne set for a move to Munster to enhance his international ambitions.

Meanwhile, Jack Dixon has committed his future to the Dragons by signing a new three-year contract that will keep him at Rodney Parade until 2021.
