Reality TV star is jailed after breaching attack work order
A CELEBRITY Big Brother star faces spending Christmas in jail after being locked up for missing community service sessions.
Reality TV personality Jeremy McConnell – who posted “If I don’t see yas have a good Christmas” on Snapchat before his court appearance – was jailed at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The 27-year-old was handed a suspended sentence and ordered to complete 200 hours of community service after being convicted of assaulting ex-girlfriend Stephanie Davis earlier this year. But the jail term has now been activated after his unpaid work no-show.
McConnell appeared in court, where it was recommended he be given extra hours of unpaid work for missing eight work appointments.
But the judge dismissed the recommendations and told McConnell he was being sent to jail for the breaches.
District Judge Wendy Lloyd, speaking via video link from Liverpool Magistrates’ Court, said: “I convicted you of a vicious alcohol-fuelled attack on your partner and the mother of your child. She received a number of injuries and you damaged her property.
“I was anxious to protect other women so I gave you a suspended sentence with rehabilitation requirements.
“Your solicitor said it would be unjust to activate that sentence.
“However, I find your enthusiasm for co-operation has been short-lived. You have done some of the work and it seems fair that I give you some discount for that.
“I sentence you to 18 weeks of imprisonment out of the original 20.”
