Solanke is tipped for Swans move

-

SWANSEA City have been tipped to make a January move for Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes have put Swansea as 7-4 favourites to sign the forward, who is struggling for minutes under Jurgen Klopp.

He has made just 10 appearances so far for the Reds – totalling 85 minutes of football.

Having only scored seven goals in the top flight this season, boss Paul Clement will be looking to bolster his attacking options come the new year.

Solanke will be no stranger to Liberty loan man Tammy Abraham, who he played alongside during their spell together at Chelsea.

They also feature together for England’s age-grade sides.

Clement, with his Stamford Bridge connections, will know plenty about the Reading-born product.

Celtic, West Brom and Wolves have all been linked with a loan move for the England international, as has Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce, who has branded Solanke’s situation as “ludicrous.”

“We need the larger clubs to have associations with the smaller ones,” Bruce said.

“If you play when you are 18 and you are successful, you need the next step.

“At the moment, we’ve got the ludicrous situation of Solanke playing for England when he’s hardly had a game with Liverpool. That can’t be right.”

Solanke made his bow for Gareth Southgate’s men in England’s friendly against Brazil earlier this month.

His only start in English football to date was in September’s Carabao Cup loss at Leicester City, although he has made nine appearances off the bench for the Reds following his summer move from Chelsea.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Solanke is struggling to force his way into Jurgen Klopp’s firstteam plans and with increased speculation surrounding his future, Tammy Abraham may well be set for a reunion with his old Chelsea pal at the Liberty.”
