Killers line up city stadium date

The Killers, Liberty Stadium, Swansea

-

US rock stars The Killers are set to play a huge stadium show in Swansea. And fans will no doubt be pleased to hear that they’ll be performing in the city next summer, after the band’s most recent tour didn’t stop at any Welsh venues.

It is the second big-name show confirmed for the stadium after Little Mix announced a show on July 7 last week.

The Las Vegas band has announced two outdoor stadium shows for summer 2018, with the group, who finished their UK tour last week, set to play Swansea’s Liberty Stadium on Saturday, June 23.

They’ll also be playing at Bolton’s Macron Stadium on Friday, July 13, 2018.

Tickets for both shows will be available from 9.30am on Friday, December 8, from Ticketmaster and Gigs and Tours.

A pre-sale of tickets will be available to members of The Killers’ fanclub, The Victims, from 9.30am on Thursday, December 7, via Ticketmaster.

The summer 2018 shows will be The Killers’ first stadium dates since they headlined a sold-out Wembley Stadium in June 2013.

And the shows come in addition to the band’s headline slot at the Isle of Wight Festival, which was also announced earlier yesterday.

Since the release of their 2004 debut, Hot Fuss, with its now-classic breakthrough singles Mr Brightside and Somebody Told Me, The Killers have gone on to sell 25 million albums, win Grammy and Brit awards, and headline stadia and festivals around the world.

The band’s latest record, Wonderful Wonderful, was released in September, and saw the group achieve a recordbreaking fifth consecutive United Kingdom number one (and a seventh for Killers frontman Brandon Flowers, who also has two number one solo albums to his name).

The Killers’ career-spanning live set draws from an enviable back catalogue which also boasts such hits as When You Were Young, Human, Read My Mind, Runaways, The Man and Run For Cover.
