Clement odds-on to win sack race

SWANSEA City boss Paul Clement is the odds-on favourite to be the next Premier League manager to get the sack.

The pressure mounted on the Swans’ boss after his side surrendered a one-goal lead in their clash with Stoke on Saturday, a game they went on to lose 2-1 at the bet365 Stadium having gone ahead in the third minute through Wilfried Bony.

It means the Swans have failed to win a single one of their last eight matches in all competitions, with their most recent triumph coming against Huddersfield Town at the Liberty Stadium on October 14.

Despite the club’s miserable predicament, Clement retains the backing of the hierarchy ahead of his side’s clash with West Brom in south Wales on Saturday.

But Sky Bet have Clement the 1/2 favourite to be the next boss in the top flight of English football to lose his job.

That puts him some way ahead of Stoke manager Mark Hughes (5/1), Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino (7/1) and West Ham’s David Moyes (8/1).

The Swans are facing a crunch period in their 2017-18 campaign, with three of their next four league outings set to be played on their home turf.

West Brom, Man City and Crystal Palace all travel to the Liberty over the next three weeks, with Swansea’s only away trip before Christmas seeing them take on Sam Allardyce’s Everton at Goodison Park on December 18.

Swansea’s latest defeat against Stoke leaves them at the foot of the Premier League table with only nine points from their opening 15 league matches.

Federico Fernandez has returned to training with Swansea City following the death of his father.

The Argentina international missed the games against Bournemouth, Chelsea and Stoke as he travelled back to his homeland to be with his family.

But Fernandez returned to Swansea over the weekend and reported for duty with the rest of Paul Clement’s squad yesterday afternoon.
