I’ve worked in a number of European countries over the past 25 years and there multilingualism is considered a benefit and not a hindrance.

I worked in South Africa for a period last year where there are at least three languages are in common use in business, and bilingualism is the norm in all parts of Wales by now, although not as commonplace as we would like.
