Sold down the river, yet again
ON December 9, the front page of the Daily Mail had the heading, ‘Rejoice! We’re on our way’.
Oh dear! Such vacuous words to our leaving the EU, and which could easily have been uttered by Boudicca when sacking Colchester in her bid to rid Britain of the Romans - we all know how that ended - we may be on our way but where to?
Why did Theresa May hasten, at night, to negotiate with the insufferable beaurocrats in Brussels, surely a sign of weakness and desperation – and what a sell-out Nigel Farage found the correct words in stating it was a national humiliation.
This is not the first capitulation by our Prime Minister having given in to other mindless enterprises such as the horrendously expensive and idiotic HS2 project not to mention the madness of Hinkley Point nuclear power station - why has the overseas aid budget not been significantly cut?
The PM holds all the cards as the Europeans need us more than we need them, we should walk away and let them come running to us.
But every cloud has a silver lining and there is light at the end of the tunnel in the form of a phrase in the deal document stating, ‘Nothing is agreed until everything is agreed’ and Gavin Williamson standing up to Philip Hammond who when as Defence Secretary and now Chancellor is decimating our brave armed forces - again the PM shows weakness in not sacking the dreadful Hammond.
