Nicholson seeks Bangor improvement

BANGOR City manager Kevin Nicholson is looking for an improved performance from his side when they visited Cefn Druids in today’s televised clash (5.15pm) as the Citizens seek to pep up their challenge for a top-two spot in the Welsh Premier.

The former Cardiff City coach was unhappy with his side’s 1-1 draw at Barry Town United last week, saying: “We missed a good opportunity to come away with another win. We controlled the first half, led 1-0 and I was looking for us to push on, get a second and pick up three points.”

“We have worked hard this week and I am seeking a 90-minute performance from the lads and a positive result.”

Druids will pose problems to Bangor’s hopes as they won the reverse fixture by a solitary goal and have lost just twice in their last eleven league matches. The visitors are virtually full strength with only Damien Allen absent injured.

Another side with an eye on Europe, Cardiff Met, resume action after a weather break, against visiting Bala Town, who were also inactive last weekend.

While the students have only suffered one loss in 13 league and cup matches, the Lakesiders, after a promising spell which has seen them leap into the top six, have suffered two heavy defeats.

Aberystwyth boss Neville Powell has started to get to grips with his new charges, winning three of the last six matches but they came down to earth with a bump last time out with a 5-1 thumping against Connah’s Quay.

The Seasiders are still in one of the two relegation spots so today’s home clash with Prestatyn, the team immediately above them on goal difference, is crucial to both clubs.
