Woman in court on murder charge

A 31-YEAR-OLD widow has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 52-year-old man in Aberdare.

Father of one Neal Jex is understood to have died at his home in the Penywaun area of Aberdare on Sunday.

South Wales Police said that Natasha Smith, 31, appeared at Merthyr Magistrate­s’ Court yesterday.

Mr Jex married Natasha in a double wedding at which her twin sister, Natalie, also got married in 2011.

Flowers have been left at the address. One message says: “Neal. No words can describe how much we are going to miss you babes. RIP. Love you always.”

The couple’s three-bedroom end-of-terrace house has been sealed off by police.

Mr Jex’s first name was originally spelt Neil, but his family uses the spelling Neal.

An investigat­ion into the death is being carried out by the South Wales Police Major Crime Investigat­ions Team.

Neal’s family said: “We as a family are completely devastated, we have lost a brother, son, father, grandfathe­r and friend.

“He adored his family and once you met him you would very rarely forget him, his legacy will live on through his grandson who will never have the opportunit­y to love him as much as we did.”

Neal is understood to have recently become a grandfathe­r through his daughter, Tanysha, now 23.
