Alert Logic celebrates three years in Wales

-

THE American cloud security company Alert Logic has celebrated three years in Wales.

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the company originally expanded its presence to Cardiff in 2014 to continue to support demand from its growing customer base in the UK and Europe and to provide an operational base for its future international expansion plans.

Alert Logic has grown its team in Cardiff to approximately 130 people, providing highly skilled IT jobs for both graduates and seasoned IT staff, and increasing the total UK staff to 180.

This has been possible, in part, as a result of the support provided by the Welsh Government and close partnerships with the University of South Wales and Cardiff University as part of their efforts to help combat the cyber security skills gap in the UK.

“Alert Logic is a great success story for South Wales,” said economy minister Ken Skates.

“In just three years the company has firmly settled into the region, becoming a significant employer offering high paid specialist jobs. The company is an active member and contributor to the growing Welsh Cyber Security community.”

The Welsh Government provided funding of £1.15m to secure the inward investment and creation of almost 130 jobs.

“Alert Logic recognised Wales as a great place to establish and grow a cyber security business and we look forward to growing this industry with them in the future,” said Mr Skates.

A University of South Wales spokesperson said: “Many of the original Alert Logic workforce are USW Alumni and this feeder route has been both continuous and progressive.”

Alert Logic continues to nurture its relationships with UK universities, and has intern programs in South West England and Northern Ireland.

“In the three years since we established our EMEA HQ in Cardiff, we have seen a dramatic growth in our UK and international business and today this location services as a key operational and development hub for Alert Logic services,” said David Howorth, SVP EMEA at Alert Logic.

“This is clearly demonstrated by the development of our industryleading security and compliance solutions for hybrid multi-cloud environments, in particular, AWS & Azure, and our strengthened threat detection capabilities, thanks to the utilisation of cutting-edge machine learning technologies,

“Our decision to locate in Cardiff and the ability to hire a wide range of talent has allowed Alert Logic to move from strength to strength, enabling us to help businesses to protect their sensitive data regardless of where their IT workloads reside – in the cloud, on-premises or in a hybrid environment.”
