Recruitment firm Sphere opens office in Canada
ONE of Wales’ leading recruitment companies is expanding overseas with the opening of a new office in Canada.
Sphere Solutions, which has its headquarters in Cardiff, has seen considerable growth in demand for its services throughout Wales and the south west of England.
As well as its Cardiff office it also has a presence in Bristol, Plymouth and St Austell in Cornwall,
And now the construction recruitment specialist has set its sights on the North America market, with a new office in Calgary.
The international move is part of a three year growth strategy to boost its brand profile and increase its turnover to £40m.
James Hughes, managing director of Sphere Solutions. said: “We have a strong vision centred on growth and continuing to meet the ever-evolving needs of our clients. When the opportunity to open an office in Canada presented itself we believed it was the right time to branch out internationally and provide our knowledge and skills to a new market.
“It’s not simply about exporting our expertise to Canada however, we need to learn about what Canada does differently to the UK and how new approaches can be transferred to our wider operations. Clearly, Canada is a lot larger than the UK so you end up with economy pockets that react very differently dependant on what their industries are.
“This move is therefore very important in Sphere’s growth plans in terms of creating new opportunities, developing global industry networking and accessing a new pool of talent and expertise, whilst learning and enhancing our skills. We are very excited to see the Canadian office develop and take shape.”
Sphere Solutions was established in Cardiff in 2005 as a construction recruitment specialist. Expansion into the south west of England quickly followed.
It supplies expertise to leading construction and civil engineering companies including Laing O’Rourke, Kier, the Midas Group and Griffiths.
Through its work Sphere has supported high profile construction projects in the UK including the Olympic Park in London for the 2012 Olympic Games, EDF Energy’s Hinkley Point C nuclear power station, and the Nottingham Tram project.
It also works closely with leading supermarkets providing expertise on new build projects for Tesco, Aldi and Sainsbury’s.
