MEGHAN AND PRINCE HARRY TO VISIT WALES
PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle are to visit Cardiff next week. The couple will be going to Wales’ capital on Thursday for a day “showcasing Welsh culture and heritage”.
They will first visit Cardiff Castle, where they will hear performances from musicians and poets, meet leading sportsmen and women and see how organisations are working to promote Welsh language and cultural identity.
They will then travel to the Star Hub community and leisure centre in Tremorfa to see how sport is being used to engage young people and aid social development.
There they will see how organisation Street Games is helping to make sport accessible to all young people, regardless of their social circumstances.
It is believed there will be opportunities for members of the public to see the couple, which will be announced nearer the time. Earlier this week the couple turned heads during their first official visit of the year to the heart of London’s Caribbean community.
Crowds gathered outside the studios of not-for-profit broadcaster Reprezent FM in Brixton, south London, and cheered and screamed when they were acknowledged by the handholding pair.
During the trip an enterprising DJ also made the headlines after giving Prince Harry his business card and offering to play at the couple’s wedding on Saturday, May 19.
After tying the knot at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, Prince Harry and his American fiancée will be living in Nottingham Cottage, at Kensington Palace.
The pair, who announced their engagement on November 27, have been dating since the summer of 2016.
Fifth in line to the throne Harry, 33, has been dating the 36-year-old star since they met through mutual friends in London.
The pair have been almost inseparable in recent months, with Ms Markle said to have virtually moved in to Harry’s home at Kensington Palace.
The Queen will be there at the wedding, as will the rest of the Royal Family, along with Ms Markle’s parents, Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte look set to take on the roles of page boy and bridesmaid.
Announcing the date of the wedding, Prince Charles said: “His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms Meghan Markle.
“The wedding will take place in spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.
“His Royal Highness and Ms Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty the Queen and other close members of his family.
“Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms Markle’s parents.”
