‘Mud run’ does not exist, insist staff at course

STAFF at Chepstow Racecourse are encouraging customers to call the police over a mud run which another company has claimed is being held there.

The Filthy Girl Mud Run website claimed that it had organised the “ultimate girly weekend” event at the racecourse on August 31 to September 2.

But Chepstow Racecourse insists this is not the case and has urged people who have already paid for the event to call the police.

The cost of the weekend was advertised as being between £85 and £105, but the company that runs it, COF Events, said there was a “strict no refund policy”

A message on social media from the team at Chepstow Racecourse on Wednesday afternoon said: “Please be aware the organisers of an event called The Filthy Girl Mud Run have not made a booking for Chepstow Racecourse for 2018. The company’s website says the racecourse will host the event between August 31 and September 2, 2018.”

The racecourse said attempts to contact the organisers had been “unsuccessful” and urged people who had already bought tickets to call the police.

A spokeswoman added: “We had tried to get hold of the organisers on numerous occasions.”

On Wednesday, the Filthy Girl Mud Run website was advertising the event at the racecourse. It said a campsite would be created at the racecourse that would be “selfcontained with 24-hour security on site”.

It said the race would take place on the Saturday and be followed by an after party and pamper sessions.

But this has since been removed and on Thursday morning only an error message was appearing on the website.

The company behind the event has been contacted, but has not responded.

A spokesman for Action Fraud confirmed that a report had been made to them and that it is being assessed by the City of London Police’s National Fraud Intelligence Bureau.
