An Albanian alliance would benefitWales
WHICH country has a population of about three million, a beautiful coastline and magnificent mountain ranges?
Wales, of course, but this could equally describe Albania. Albania is located in south-eastern Europe, bordering the Adriatic and Ionian Seas to the west, Greece to the south and Kosovo and Montenegro to the north. Like Wales, it is a nation of great economic potential because of its geographical location, natural resources and young and highly educated population.
The government of Albania is currently focusing on promoting and attracting foreign investment in the renewable energy, tourism, agriculture, infrastructure, manufacturing and service sectors.
There are many good reasons to invest in Albania apart from a liberal and reformist investment climate and free access to large markets due to the many free trade agreements that Albania has negotiated.
These include a competitive labour cost, an optimal geographic location, strong growth potential, a new law on “Free Economic Zones” which has created a competitive environment for economic and technological development areas, and macroeconomic stability – Albania is characterised by stable prices, low inflation and solid exchange rates.
It is now time for Wales and Albania to partner up in terms of trade and investment, as well as strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.
