Law-makers seeking to micro-manage us
WHEN opportunity arises, there is an emotive outpouring in support of presumed consent. The rather “Sword of Damocles scenario” of imminent death and subsequent recovery is obviously emotive.
However, the statistics show there has been small variation in donation rates and the usual argument is for people to talk about it more. There is no necessity for a law on that basis.
The new proposed legislation relating to smacking falls into a similar category, as the ability to enforce will be controversial and untenable. Disproportionate allocation of resources and arbitrary inconclusive judgements will ensue.
The public are beginning to feel the political intrusion in their lives is excessive – maybe it is another case of “we’ve got law-making powers, so let’s be first and gloat”. Windsor Davies
