Expansion for Wilsons Auctions with acquisition of Newport Auctions

-

WILSONS Auctions is the UK and Ireland’s largest independent auction company with 17 sites across its group including the recently-acquired Newport branch.

Formed in 1936, Wilsons Auctions has grown from a single auction site in Northern Ireland to become the only auction company in the British Isles to offer a national coverage with more than 350 staff and an annual hammer total in excess of £300m.

The family-owned business’ acquisition of Newport Auctions will help to expand Wilsons Auctions presence across Wales, along with its Queensferry branch in the north, and with future growth plans will see the company invest further into the local area and create more job opportunities.

Wilsons Auctions also has branches in Belfast and Portadown in Northern Ireland, Dalry in Scotland, Dublin in Republic of Ireland and Telford, Newcastle and Maidstone in England.

Wilsons Auctions holds more than 1,000 auctions annually across its branches, auctioning everything from cars and vans, plant and machinery and property to general goods, as well as the more luxurious items to include; planes, yachts, gold bars, supercars, designer goods and prestigious watches.

Wilsons Auctions manages the whole asset realisation process for its clients which includes collection, valuation, storage, re-marketing and auctioning of assets.

Under the new management of Wilsons Auctions, a significant amount of investment will be made into the branch bringing fresh car stock for bidders from Eastern Western Motor Group, Moneyway and local authority vehicles. The auction company will also introduce new auctions to the branch drawing on its experience, resources and ideas from all of its branches.

Talking of the transition, Annmarie Jones, branch manager of Wilsons Auctions Newport, said: “This is a very exciting time for us at the Newport site as we move forward under the management of Wilsons Auctions. Already established as one of the leading car auctions in south Wales, having previously sold approximately 20,000 used vehicles annually, Wilsons Auctions is looking to generate an enhanced experience for bidders by offering fresh new car stock in the coming months for customers and clients.

“As a result of Wilsons Auctions law enforcement contracts, there will be further expansion for the branch, which will have a positive impact for the local community with job creations and investment. The first unreserved government auction to take place at the branch will be on January 31, while the first plant and machinery auction will take place on January 18,” she added.

The inaugural plant, machinery, LCV and small tool auction will take place on Thursday, January 18 from 10.30am and will include a number of entries from financial institutions, insolvency practitioners, large hire companies and government bodies.

Items to be included in the auction range from a 2008 Valtra T131 tractor, generators, electric boom lifts, scissor lifts, twin axle plant trailers, a selection of ambulance vehicles and a wide selection of small tools.

Many of the assets within the auction will be sold with no reserve, and viewing of lots will take place at Wilsons Auctions, Newport on Wednesday, January 17 from 10am to 5pm as well as the morning of the auction from 9am. The auction will be available online and for further details contact the branch directly on 01633 262626.

The unreserved government auction will see a selection of luxury items go under the hammer with no reserve on Wednesday, January 31 from 7.30pm.

A range of high-value goods to feature in the auction include a Hermes handbag, a selection of ladies Christian Louboutin, Miu Miu, Gucci and Jimmy Choo shoes and men’s Louis Vuitton, Versace and Prada shoes.

In addition, there is also a range of children’s designer footwear, electrical goods including an Xbox One, Beats by Dr Dre headphones and a black boxed gold Swarovski iPhone 5 and a selection of designer handbags from Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Fendi, Prada and Gucci.

All items will be sold as seen to the highest bidder with no reserve and lots can be viewed at any time online with additional images available on request. Additional lots will be added online in the run-up to the auction. Due to the nature of the auction all lots are securely stored off-site.

Wilsons Auctions manages the whole asset realisation process for private and public sector and more than 40 law enforcement agencies across the UK and Ireland and is proud to facilitate its monthly government auctions.

The role it plays in realising the important assets within its government auctions is vital to its clients as well as the process in raising the money which ultimately goes straight back into the public purse.

In recent years Wilsons Auctions has been responsible for returning in excess of £85m to government coffers. Items include government repossessed assets, proceeds of crime-related assets as well as corporate liquidation stock.

Wilsons Auctions has the ability to auction everything and with its online auction facility, LiveBid, auctions are available to a worldwide audience.
