Ospreys sign new sponsorship deal with Aberdare-based hi-tech firm
ELECTRONICS firm Philtronics has agreed a new sponsorship deal with professional rugby region the Ospreys.
The Aberdare-based busness supplies global customers in the avionics, defence, semiconductor, medical and automotive industries.
The deal will see its logo featuring on the left leg of the playing shorts of the first team until the end of the 2018-19 season.
Huw Warren, head of commercial at the Ospreys, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to welcome Philtronics to our growing family of commercial partners. Having come on board with us via the match-day hospitality route as members of the all-inclusive Godi Lounge, it’s fantastic to see them progressing on to the first team playing strip as they recognise the commercial benefits of working with the Ospreys.
“An ambitious and successful Welsh company, locally based but operating globally, they set the standard in their business sector, and we look forward to growing this relationship with them over the coming seasons.”
Founded in 2003, Philtronics now employs 50 high-skilled staff and recently finalised plans to triple its size with investment in new hi-tech premises with clean room capabilities.
The company’s clients include Newport-based SPTS Technologies, a leading supplier of waferprocessing equipment to the global semiconductor industry, and Energist, the UK’s leading developer and manufacturer of advanced light and laser technology systems for use in medical and cosmetic procedures.
Philtronics managing director Simon Pritchard said: “Rugby has always been a big part of my life, going back to Rhigos Rugby Club and the legendary Dai Morris, supporting Neath as a boy and then the Ospreys.
“Linking up with the Ospreys is fantastic for us as a company, with so many Ospreys supporters in our loyal workforce who will take great pride in seeing our logo on the match-day kit.
“We’ve enjoyed our hospitality experiences at the Liberty Stadium and are benefiting from networking opportunities available with likeminded businesses who are passionate about the Ospreys. We aim to make this a long-term relationship that works for both parties.”
The value of the deal has not been disclosed.
