Seam trio sign new contracts at Glamorgan

-

SEAM bowlers Michael Hogan, Timm van der Gugten and Lukas Carey have all signed contract extensions at Glamorgan.

Red-ball captain Hogan, 36, has signed a one-year extension keeping him at the club until 2019.

Van der Gugten, 26, and Carey, 20, have committed themselves to the Welsh county until 2020 with two-year extensions.

“It’s great news all three players have committed to the club,” chief executive Hugh Morris told the official Glamorgan website.

“Michael has been the leader of our attack for a number of years.

“He is a fantastic competitor and, as he showed last year with 50 wickets and a career-best, he is still a top-quality bowler.

“Timm is an integral member of the squad who has put in match-winning contributions for us in both red and white-ball cricket.

“We were thrilled with the progress Lukas made last season after breaking into the first team at the end of 2016.

“It’s very promising to see a young Welsh bowler come through the academy.”

Hogan joined from Western Australia in 2012 and has since taken 279 wickets for Glamorgan at an average under 23.

Netherlands bowler Van der Gugten joined Glamorgan in 2016, taking 82 wickets across all competitions that season to be named the club’s player of the year.

Carey took 35 county championship wickets in his first full season last summer at a cost of under 30.
