Drug dealer made subject to serious crime prevention order

A drug dealer who sold a drug “25 times more powerful than heroin” to customers through the dark web has been made subject to a Serious Crime Prevention Order (SCPO).

Kyle Enos, 25, was jailed for eight years at Cardiff Crown Court in February after selling the synthetic opioid fentanyl to 168 people in the UK, Europe and the US between May 2016 and May 2017.

At least four of his customers in the UK have since died as a result of taking the drug – although none of the deaths could be attributed to Enos.

Last August Enos, of Maindee Road, Newport, admitted importing, supplying and exporting fentanyl.

The defendant imported fentanyl from illegal sellers in China and prepared packets himself before sending them either first class or via air mail.

Officers have identified a total of 168 customers – 92 in the UK and 78 overseas. He used the psedunym “sovietbear” to sell fentanyl online and offered same-day delivery to customers around the world, who he urged to leave positive reviews.

Enos appeared via video link from HMP Berwyn in Wrexham for the hearing at Cardiff Crown Court yesterday where it was decided he should be made subject to a SCPO. This is a civil order which can include restrictions on communication devices, holding specific types of bank accounts, associating with criminal associates or entering specific geographic locations.
