Vibrant Economy Wales – Grant Thornton start search to find the country’s success stories
GRANT Thornton Cardiff office is launching its Vibrant Economy Wales Campaign and the firm has invited some of the most brilliant Welsh leaders from a variety of communities to collaborate and share ideas to create an environment across Wales, which supports sustainable business growth, innovation and sense of purpose.
The exclusive event will take place tomorrow in The Old Library/Yr Hen Lyfrgell hosted by Grant Thornton UK CEO Sacha Romanovitch, who will share her insight on the important role inspirational leaders play in creating a vibrant Welsh economy.
In addition to the event, the regional campaign launch marks the creation of a new online platform, www.vibranteconomywales.cymru sponsored by Grant Thornton Cardiff to provide an opportunity for individuals, enterprises and organisations from across Wales to tell their stories of success.
The firm hopes the platform will encourage people across the vibrant economy communities to share best practice and foster collaborations to spark change and inspire innovation across the country.
The Vibrant Economy Wales platform will host a variety of content including case studies of growing businesses, innovative organisations and purpose-led enterprises from across Wales.
Collaboration is at the heart of the initiative, which has attracted support from a wealth of organisations including Welsh Government, and future projects include a programme of events, insights and spotlight opportunities.
Success stories are being called for now and corporates, SMES, third sector, social enterprises, start-ups and inspirational individuals are all encouraged to take part and share their success.
The campaign has been inspired by Grant Thornton’s 100 Faces of a Vibrant Economy, which highlights inspirational leaders from across the UK, and Grant Thornton Cardiff is looking to increase the number of Welsh faces in the 100 Faces list by searching for the country’s most pioneering leaders.
The firm is identifying leaders that stand out from the crowd for their organisation’s growth, innovation, social impact and the work they do to empower people, from employees, customers and the wider community.
Over the last two years, nine Welsh business leaders have made the prestigious list and Cardiff Grant Thornton office is looking to grow this in the future.
Current Welsh faces include Laura Tenison MBE, Jo Jo Maman Bébé; Gwyn Roberts, Galeri Caernarfon; Mark Gould, Wholebake; Kevin Crofton, SPTS; Wayne Preece, Hydro Industries; Rachel Clacher, Moneypenny/WeMindTheGap; Debra Barber, Cardiff Airport and Peter Brewin and Will Crawford of Concrete Canvas.
Grant Thornton Cardiff is currently reaching out across Wales to find the Welsh faces for 2018 and beyond.
Aside from the platform and faces project, within its campaign proposal, discussions are under way to deliberate developing a VE index for Wales.
The firm has already created such an index for England, which looks at a new way to measure success across six socio-economic indicators, considering not only prosperity, but also dynamism and opportunity; inclusion and equality; health, wellbeing and happiness; resilience and sustainability; community, trust and belonging.
Grant Thornton Cardiff welcomes debate and feedback to progress a Welsh index.
