14. Watch Disney on Ice Worlds of Enchantment
Where: Motorpoint Arena Cardiff When: April 25 -29 Tickets: 029 2022 4488. Four of Disney’s most popular shows will be brought to life as Disney On Ice comes to the Welsh capital.
The action-packed spectacular will showcase characters from Frozen, Cars, Toy Story 3 and The Little Mermaid.
And that means much-loved characters like Elsa, Ariel, Lightning McQueen, Mater, Buzz Lightyear and Woody will be performing stunts, races across the ice and acrobatics like you’ve never seen before.

16. Get excited by Monster Jam
Where: When: Saturday, May 19 Tickets: www.MonsterJam.co.uk World-class drivers will compete in Principality Stadium, Cardiff. both Monster Jam truck racing and freestyle competitions. Combining high-octane, spontaneous entertainment with the ultimate off-road motorsport competition, the jaw-dropping displays are likely to leave families on the edge of their seats.
The show will feature 12 of the world’s most famous Monster Jam trucks, including Monster Jam World Finals® champions Grave Digger® and Max-DTM.
17. Get some culture at the Hay Festival
Where: Hay on Wye When: May 24 to June 3 Now in its 31st year, the literary festival is world renowned, and celebrates great writing, from poets, novelists, lyricists, comedians, environmentalists, scientists. Former US president Bill Clinton once described it as “Woodstock of the mind”.
18. See the Volvo Ocean Race for the first time in Cardiff
Where: Cardiff Bay Barrage. When: May 27 to June 10 Free event The Volvo Ocean Race fleet set off from Alicante, Spain on a race around the world, visiting 12 cities touching six continents - and for the first time in its history the race will stop in Cardiff in May.
The Volvo Ocean Race festival site, called the Race Village, will be located on the scenic Cardiff Bay Barrage.
The two week free event will host a variety of entertainment and Volvo Ocean Race- themed attractions… So put it in your diary now, it’s going to be too good to miss.
19. Go for a walk
Wales is a beautiful place and there isn’t much better than going out for some fresh air once the spring temperatures have kicked in. Where: Royal Welsh showgrounds, Builth Wells. When: May 28 to June 2. One of Europe’s largest youth touring festivals, with more than 15,000 children and young people competing.
The Welsh language festival of literature, music and performing arts is organised by Urdd Gobaith Cymru.
Coinciding with schools half term holiday, locations alternate annually between north and south Wales and consist of competitive singing, recitation, dance and instrumental events for contestants aged between 7 and 24 years.
Regional qualifying heats are held in advance around Wales, as occurs for the National Eisteddfod.
