Toiletry collection for homeless reaches over 10,000 donations

-

THROUGH December and January, Peter Alan took donations of toiletries in all 30 of its branches to help the local homeless.

As part of the initiative alongside Bigmoose (a not-for-profit organisation which aims to inspire people to live better lives), the donations were distributed to those living on the streets of South Wales.

Through the combined efforts of Peter Alan, David Lloyd Cardiff and the University Hospital of Wales over 10,000 toiletry items were collected.

Some of the items which were donated included shampoo, shower gel, tissues, lip salve, sanitary items and soap.

This year’s appeal followed the successful collection that Peter Alan carried out last year when warm clothing and bedding was donated to protect rough sleepers from the cold weather through the winter.

Andrew Barry, Peter Alan managing director, said: “We want to send a massive thank-you to all of our customers and staff who donated to the campaign.

“With David Lloyd and UHW we had a grand total of over 10,000 toiletries donated to the cause. This is an outstanding amount and will go a very long way in helping the local homeless.

“As an estate agency, we passionately care about homes and housing. It is heart-breaking to see the number of homeless who have no option but to sleep on the street in our local areas. While there’s no easy solution, if there are things we can do to help, such as collecting toiletries and warm clothing, then we will.”
