1. Improving the bus network 2. Integrated ticketing Using a model like London’s Oyster card, this could see a card which people can use to switch between buses, trains, bikes or even cars 3. A zero carbon bus fleet 4. Active travel zones Dedicate more space to nonmotoris­ed transport. 5. A cycle superhighw­ay 6. Total 20mph zone 7. Clean air zones 8. Active travel targets for public sector and businesses 9. Parking levies In Nottingham, workplaces were told they had to pay £387 for each parking space for businesses with more than 10 staff. That has raised between £8m and £10m a year and has funded public transport. 10. Creating a high quality city centre Using the city centre to attract people to the city with an improved public transport system would mean more people looked at active travel. 11. Develop the south eastern corridor “A new park and ride rail station for St Mellons, the completion of the Eastern Bay Link road, further improvemen­t to Queen Street Station, linked to improved cycling and walking routes.” 12. Regional park and rides Setting up regional park and rides at junctions 33 and 34 and north of junction 32 as well as the east and west of the city are all suggested. 13. Zero carbon vehicles There are only 114 electric cars registered in Cardiff, but in Japan there are more charging points than petrol stations. 14. Better network of charging points 15. Car clubs (car-sharing schemes) 16. Share digital informatio­n Provide better informatio­n about how people access informatio­n about, and pay for, public transport. 17. Intelligen­t street management There are already monitors in Cardiff to direct drivers to free parking spots. It could be extended to charging points too. 18. Autonomous vehicles (driverless cars)
