Warm weather finally on its way

-

AFTER months of snow, rain and frosty mornings Wales could finally be in line for some sun.

Temperatures are set to reach highs of 23°C next week thanks to incoming warm air from Iberia.

Across the UK high pressure is set to build up alongside a change in wind direction.

And while it’s not known how long it will stay for, it could reach highs of to 25°C in the south of the country.

According to the Weather Channel, temperatures will hit 19°C in Cardiff on Wednesday, April 18 and 17°C the following day.

The mercury will rise to 20°C in North Wales and Aberystwyth which is in comparison to 18°C in Kefalonia, Greece.

Speaking to the Mirror, Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze said: “Forecast models show very warm temperatures which could see highs into the mid-20s.”

The latest forecasts follows predictions of grey skies and rain for the rest of this week.

A yellow weather warning is in place for this afternoon for rain, with warnings of flash floods and lightning.

But after the downpours on Friday, the weekend will see highs of 14°C as the temperatures start to rise.

Britain enjoyed the hottest day of the year so far last weekend when temperatures reached 19°C on Saturday – beating Barcelona.

The Met Office said it was the warmest day since October 25 last year, when temperatures reached a high of 19.6°C in Wisley, Surrey.
