Porthole student scheme finished

-

A STRIKING 136-bedroom student accommodation scheme, with porthole windows, has been completed in Cardiff.

The six-storey Livin scheme, running from 21 to 27 City Road, close to the city centre, has been designed by architectural firm Holder Mathias.

It describes its design of the scheme as “simple, but yet an eyecatching addition to the diverse and eclectic mix of properties that characterise City Road”.

Its metal sheet cladding frontage features porthole windows.

The scheme, which will be ready for occupancy at the start of the next academic year in September, is the latest project from student accommodation development firm Modra Investments.

Stephen Hill, partner at Holder Mathias, based in Cardiff, said: “In response to the eclectic nature of City Road, the new Livin student residential block marks the start of a ‘redevelopment renaissance’ in the area, providing it with a vibrant and visually striking addition to the street scene, as well as a quality benchmark for the continued redevelopment of the area.”

Directors at Modra Investments said: “As a student accommodation developer we are proud to be part of the redevelopment of an area.

“We believe that the Livin City Road student site design promotes an exciting aesthetic whilst setting a design benchmark for the overall street scene.”
