Best practice award for Nuffield Health

-

NUFFIELD Health Cardiff & Vale Hospitals recently picked up a national award for the highest standards relating to patient safety. Signifying better care, the National Joint Registry’s Quality Data Provider award demonstrates the high quality of data at the Nuffield Health Joint Replacement Centre and is the only healthcare provider to have gained this award in Wales.

The NJR Quality Data Provider scheme is designed to offer hospitals a blueprint for reaching standards relating to patient safety and to reward them for meeting six ambitious targets.

The scheme benefits both the hospitals and the National Joint Registry (NJR) by helping recognise and reward best practice; increase engagement and awareness of quality data collection and help embed the ethos that better data ultimately equals better care.

Established over 15 years ago, the NJR monitors the performance of hip, knee, ankle, elbow and shoulder joint replacements to enable research and improve clinical outcomes for the benefit of patients.

In accepting the Quality Data Provider award, Matron Melanie Webber-Maybank said: “Our compliance with the National Joint Registry is a strong reflection on our Joint Replacement Centre Wales to achieve this accolade.

“For surgeons and patients alike, the necessity for having accurate and complete data is an absolute must.

“It provides an important source of evidence for regulators such as the Healthcare Inspectorate Wales, to inform their judgements about our service, as well as being a fundamental driver to inform about our improved quality of care for patients.”

With a network of 31 hospitals across the UK, Nuffield Health concentrates on enhancing patient satisfaction and quality care across the organisation.

Locally, Nuffield Health Cardiff and Vale Hospitals provide first-class private healthcare across all specialities to the immediate local areas of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, as well as across South Wales and surrounding regions from two hospital locations.

The Vale Hospital and Cardiff Bay Hospital are multi-speciality hospitals which combine the finest consultants and the latest medical technology, with the unrivalled reputation of Nuffield Health.

Based on a reputation for excellence in the treatment of bones and joints, three years ago Nuffield Health launched the Joint Replacement Centre Wales.

With input from surgeons, nurses and physiotherapists, a leading edge programme for hip and knee replacement is tailored to the individual needs of the patient.

This makes sure that optimum pre-operative assessment fully prepares the patient for the right surgery; with the patient and the surgeon choosing exactly the right implant for them as an individual.

By reviewing all the clinical evidence worldwide, they ensure that they have developed the highest quality and safest way to fix joints and return patients to their best possible fitness and mobility.
