Driver in custody after women hurt

A TEENAGER has appeared in court after three women were injured when hit by a car in Blackpool on Saturday night.

Jake Hartley, 19, was at Blackpool Magistrate­s’ Court, charged with nine offences.

Hartley, of Todmorden, Lancs, is accused of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, three counts of assault relating, dangerous driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and possession of a stun gun. He is also accused of drink-driving, giving a reading of 81 microgramm­es of alcohol in 100 millilitre­s of breath, with the drink-drive limit being 35 microgramm­es.

Chairman of the bench Paul Farquhar remanded Hartley into custody to next appear at Preston Crown Court on May 16.
