GET ON YOUR BIKE SHORTS

-

IT APPEARS it is officially open season for the return of all bygone trends, as Kim Kardashian single-handedly champions the return of possibly the most unflattering garment ever to be resurrected – the humble cycling shorts.

As with most things the reality TV family endorses, it has quickly taken hold. A few snaps of a heavily made up Kim K wearing kneelength Lycra and her fans quickly go forth and imitate.

A quick check on the modern-day trend barometer that is Instagram and there they are, Kim-bots donning the shorts previously reserved for biking.

If you were a pre-teen in the 1990s, your memories of cycling shorts will likely resemble mine, we were the early adopters of co-ords – wearing United Colours of Benetton cycling shorts and matching T-shirts... we were trailblazers!

Mrs Kardashian-West isn’t taking the easy route either... oh no, she’s pushing the boundaries of her Lycra fad, opting for shiny dance hall fabrics and even shape-wear inspired styles (think Spanx with a lace trim).

Brands such as Off-White and Saint Laurent featured versions of cycling shorts on their catwalks back in September. I wonder if they were inspired by the Belfie Queen herself strutting around in Yeezy strides?

Because, let’s not forget her husband Kanye West owns the Yeezy brand and she’s a walking advertisement for it.

These Kardashians don’t make a move without it being a cash- generating one.

If all this has convinced you that cycling shorts should be your next spring purchase, the actual Yeezy satin bike shorts are a snip at £255 from the likes of Selfrdiges.

For a more affordbale option, Pretty Little Thing has them in loads of colours for just £5, just remember no bum padding required...
