Film crew use castle as set for new Channel 4 drama

-

A FILM crew spent a week at Llanelli’s Stradey Castle working on a Warner Bros programme set for Netflix and Channel 4.

Those behind the project have been tight-lipped about the finer details of the plot and actors involved, but Stradey Castle confirmed via their Facebook page that the filming was for a post-Second World War drama.

Patrick and Claire Mansel Lewis have owned the Grade IIlisted castle since 2009.

“My wife, Claire, handles Stradey Castle Events Limited, working on quite a lot of wedding photographs and a few wedding receptions, to give an example,” Mr Mansel Lewis explained.

“It’s a lengthy process to organise something like this – we’ll be in touch with Wales Screen, where families and households can register their property for film location ‘scouts’ to look into. That person will get a pretty good idea right away whether a location is suitable – and a few weeks later they’ll get back in touch and ask to bring the directors down.

“From there it’s a slow process of building up to commencing the shoot itself – we’ll need to work out the fees and times of the filming. We have to commit ourselves to be here at the time, so that the film crew have everything that they need.

“As part of the deal, we have agreed to confidentiality about the finer details.”

Channel 4 has been contacted for comment.
