Mediterranean dance party heads to castle garden

ANOTHER huge outdoor concert has been announced for Cardiff Castle this summer – featuring legendary British DJ Pete Tong.

Pete Tong & The Heritage Orchestra Perform Ibiza Classics will be staged in the stunning backdrop of the castle on Saturday, July 28, bringing their Mediterranean dance party to the walled garden in the heart of the capital. The show is said to be a must-see for ravers, party animals and everyone who ever saw Ibiza as their Mecca, an irresistible combination of the UK’s most influential DJ with a 65-piece orchestra and a spectacular visual show with lasers.

Pete Tong’s collaboration with the Heritage Orchestra conducted by Jules Buckley played arenas around the world, including the Hollywood Bowl and two sold-out nights at the O2, and spawned the album Classic House, which sold more than 200,000 copies and reached number one in the UK, and the followup, Pete Tong Ibiza Classics, which has so far amassed over 120,000 sales.

The Cardiff Castle date is promoted by a team featuring the Cardiff-based Orchard Media and Events Group. Orchard has staged concerts with the likes of Paul Weller in the castle grounds, and is behind the sold-out Catfish And The Bottlemen gig which takes place the night after the Pete Tong show on Sunday, July 29.

Orchard’s director Pablo Janczur said: “Pete Tong and the orchestra will recreate the spirit of Ibiza in a castle in the centre of Cardiff for what will be the party highlight of summer 2018. It’s a huge experience, and vividly captures a real moment in time.”

The concept first came to fruition, after a lot of hard work and careful curation, at the massively successful BBC Proms show at the Royal Albert Hall three years ago.
