One of west Wales’ best known hotels has been put up for sale with a £3.8m price tag. The Stradey Park Hotel and Spa in Furnace, Llanelli, has 77 rooms for guests to stay, including spa-themed rooms and a bridal suite.

The four-star hotel is a popular destination for family breaks, spa treatments and corporate events.

The hotel also has a function suite seating 320 guests.

The owners of the hotel are making plans for retirement.

Owner Angela Saunders said: “We’re in our 60s now so we’ve been looking to finish up. We’ve loved every minute of our 18 years here.

“The staff have been told, and we’re hoping they’ll stay with us.

“We had to re-invest heavily in the building when it was first bought, and have continued to improve it, with the spa being one of the newest successful additions.

“That is something which we continue to do, as we’re about to open a new rooftop restaurant, The 1912, within the next couple of months.

“The business has continued to be strong – we’ve been amazingly lucky with the support shown by the community.

“We have benefited from staycationing – as customers have decided to holiday at home and not abroad in greater numbers, that has given us some great success.

“Carmarthenshire has really developed as a holidaying destination in recent years, too.”

The Stradey Park venue isn’t the only Carmarthenshire hotel which is currently for sale.

The Ivy Bush Royal Hotel on Carmarthen’s Spilman Street is also up on Rightmove for £2.7m.

Plas Glansevin in Llangadog is also on the market for a £1.6m asking price, while Pembrey’s 13-bedroom Ashburnham Hotel is up for grabs for £850,000.

A Grade II-listed Georgian property, Plas Glansevin was built in 1832 and still maintains many of its original features, including a portico with Doric columns and a sweeping Nash staircase.

Current owners Mr and Mrs Peters bought the property in 1985, but are now looking to downsize and retire.

“We have had 30 wonderful years at Glansevin and are looking forward to meeting the new custodians who will take it on its next journey,” they said.

“Plas Glansevin offers an exciting opportunity for a new owner to take the helm and drive revenue forward through a multi-faceted property with the potential for multiple income streams.

“A new buyer would be ideally placed to build on the foundations laid down by our clients, whether that be as a boutique guest house, beautiful wedding venue, activity centre or corporate retreat.

“This unique venue provides the chance to live and work in a historical period property and in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It’s the perfect combination and an opportunity not to be missed.”
