Don’t knock Welsh, it’ll do you no favours

-

ABOUT a million years ago, when I first qualified as a secondary school teacher, we were taught to look out for any problems the children might have – for example, dyslexia and a whole host of complexes such as an inferiority complex.

This brings me to the drivel spouted by Rod Liddle.

He displays such symptoms of a massive inferiority complex that I can only conclude that he is in fact inferior!

Can anyone imagine what would happen if he said about the Jews and Israel what he says about Wales and the Welsh?

Some people look good because they are good – others like Liddle can only try to make themselves look good by running down those who surround them. Poor souls!

And I am very disappointed by David Davies MP, who seems to think that this is all “banter”.

Doesn’t he realise yet that when it comes to the English this famous banter only works one way?

God help the Welsh person who puts his head above the parapet to tease them in the same vein – all too often that person is slammed for being narrow-minded, humourless and racist!

And in this instant the fact that Mr Davies is a fluent Welsh-speaker really does not mean anything.

Apparently, Murray the Hump (Al Capone’s right-hand man) was also a Welsh-speaker, and probably so was that train robber Jesse James!

But perhaps this letter is just “banter”.

Maybe Messrs Liddle and Davies can tell me whether I am serious or whether I jest.

Then again, some might complain that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, and to that I reply that I agree, but that is why I use it – I am trying to get down to their level!
