Engineer jailed for making secret videos

-

AN IT engineer made hundreds of secret videos of people urinating on nights out, at football matches, and at music festivals.

Shaun Brown, 33, from Newport, was jailed at Cardiff Crown Court after he admitted voyeurism as well as making and distributing indecent images of children.

Sentencing him, Judge Jeremy Jenkins noted the offending was motivated by sexual gratification.

The court heard police became aware of his behaviour when he posted an indecent image of a child on Twitter.

Owen Williams, prosecuting, said police searched his home in March and seized a number of electronic items.

He was not at home at the time because he was working in London. Police then arrested him in his hotel room there and seized his iPhone.

Officers discovered hundreds of covert films of people going to the toilet including football fans at matches and gig-goers at concerts and festivals.

Brown, 33, from Mersey Walk in Bettws, Newport, admitted voyeurism.

He also admitted making Cate - gory A, B and C images, as well as distributing Category A and C images.

Harry Baker, defending, acknowledged the case was “unusual”.

The court heard Brown was an intelligent man with a responsible and well-paid job.

Brown was jailed for two years and eight months. Judge Jenkins imposed a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and the defendant must register as a sex offender for the next 10 years. An order was made for his computer equipment to be forfeited and destroyed.
