Six people held in ‘drugs’ raids as money laundering is suspected

-

SIX people have been arrested after a large drugs raid into alleged “serious organised crime”.

Four men and two women remain in custody on suspicion of supplying drugs and money laundering after seven raids by Gwent Police.

On Thursday specialist officers confiscated two cars and “large quantities” of cash after targeting houses in Tredegar, New Tredegar, Abertysswg and Bargoed.

It is believed the money is the result of “serious organised crime”.

Suspected Class A drugs were also seized and sent away for forensic examination.

Investigations are ongoing after men aged 36, 28, 25 and 24 were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

Two women aged 31 and 29 have also been arrested on suspicion of money laundering.

The raids were carried out using specialist entry and search-trained officers along with officers from Gwent Police dog department and criminal investigation teams.

Local officers were also used to help co-ordinate the warrants.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Pope said: “Information received from our communities is vital for warrants like these to be executed successfully.

“Nobody knows their villages and streets better than the communities that live there.

“If you see something that seems out of place or something just does not add up, then you can contact us.

“What may seem like a small detail to you, to Gwent Police it could be the final piece to a much bigger puzzle.”
