Carwyn not interested in Welsh voters’ views

AT A recent ‘Carwyn Connect’ event in Llanelli, the Welsh Government’s proposed smacking ban came up.

The First Minister was asked for his response to a recent poll which highlights widespread opposition to the proposal.

According to ComRes, 77% of adults in Wales think it should be the role of parents to decide whether or not they smack, and 68% of parents think it is sometimes necessary to smack a naughty child.

Mr Jones claimed that he had not seen the poll, and that the change will go ahead because it was part of the Labour Party’s manifesto.

In other words, the Government has decided to legislate for a ban and no amount of public opinion will stand in its way.

I looked back at the manifesto and I could not find any reference to this proposal in it. Either way, it does seem that the First Minister has no interest in the views of Welsh people. Peter Naylor Culverhous­e Cross, Cardiff Aid, kindly inform us as to how many billions of pounds’ worth of subsidies has his Tory Government given to the Virgin Group of companies out of the public purse?
