Video goes viral as thousands enchanted by dolphins at play

-

MESMERISING footage of dolphins swimming off the Welsh coast has been captured on video.

Abersoch man Andy Huddlestone, 25, recorded the spectacle near Saint Tudwal’s after taking his boat out over the weekend.

The video has now gone viral, racking up an impressive 37,000 views since Tuesday, something that’s taken Andy aback.

He said: “I feel very excited and a little overwhelmed by the response it has had. Originally I just wanted to show the footage to my Facebook friends and family as I felt it was too beautiful not to share with others.”

He is the manager of an electronics shop by trade, and it may come as a surprise that the footage isn’t professionally shot, with it being more of a hobby for Andy.

He added: “I am always keeping my eyes peeled for any animals while I am out at sea. However, dolphins are a more rare encounter in Abersoch, so when I do see them it is always a magical experience.

“I always take my drone out with me in the hope that I will capture beautiful pictures of the ocean and beaches in Abersoch but I did not expect to encounter such a large pod of dolphins playing and swimming as they did.”

If watching the video has inspired you to do your own spot of dolphinwatching then there’s some good news as they are quite commonly seen along the coast of north Wales.

Natural Resources Wales marine mammal specialist Ceri Wyn Morris said: “The dolphins belong to the largest resident population of bottlenose dolphins in the UK. They range from Cardigan Bay and around the north Wales coast.

“The best places to spot them are from headlands, or you can join one of the wildlife watching trips.”
