Revenge man advertised woman as a prostitute
A MAN has been jailed for what has been described as an evil revenge attack on a woman by making fake online profiles advertising her as being a prostitute.
Christopher Phillip Stringer, of Colby Road, Burry Port, pleaded guilty when he appeared at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on Thursday to creating false profiles on escort websites offering his victim’s sexual services for a fee.
He created four posts across two websites – Viva Street and Wales Back Page between March last year and January this year.
The sites also contained the woman’s photos, which he had taken from her Facebook page.
Prosecutor Abul Hussein said: “The posts contained sexual messages and said his victim was offering sex on the escort sites.
“The woman knew nothing about this, and said she is not a prostitute.”
When reported to the police it was discovered the sites had details linking back to Stringer, such as his email address and a mobile phone number.
While they were known to each other, the victim could not think why Stringer would have placed ads about her. Mr Hussein said that the woman felt “worthless” after the ordeal.
Defence solicitor Richard Morgan said Stringer suffered from autism and claimed to have a grudge against the woman, which the judge dismissed.
District judge Simon Morris said: “What you did was evil and for essentially revenge.”
Stringer, 47, was jailed for 16 weeks and ordered to pay £115 in compensation to the victim.
He was given a five-year restraining order not to approach the woman or post material online.
