Stabbing death: two more arrested

-

POLICE investigating the stabbing death of a Cardiff man in Liverpool have made two further arrests.

Twenty-year-old Fatah Warsame, pictured, was attacked in the city centre in the early hours of May 6.

Yesterday, police took to social media to confirm a 33-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman from Toxteth were arrested on Saturday on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They have been since been released while police continue their investigation.

The statement came after the force had earlier confirmed yesterday that three men arrested in connection with the death have also been released under investigation.

A 24-year-old was questioned on suspicion of murder following the death of Mr Warsame. Two other men, aged 21 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They were arrested on Thursday, four days after the death of Mr Warsame.

It is thought he was attacked following an altercation between Mr Warsame and three men near Popland on Slater Street at about 3.30am.

Appealing for information ahead of the arrests last week, Detective Chief Inspector John Middleton said: “I am continuing to appeal to anyone who was in the area around Slater Street or Wood Street to please come forward, as they may have seen or heard something which could prove vital to our investigation.”
