Positive outlook for royal wedding

-

THE mercury is starting to edge upwards as Wales looks set for a dry and warm spell.

Temperatures are likely to reach between 19°C and 25°C by the middle of next week.

And it looks like the weekend is going to be fine, warm and dry which is good news for Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and people organising street parties to mark the royal wedding.

Welsh weather presenter Liam Dutton is forecasting “another burst of warmth and sunshine into next week” and there are also hopes of a warm and sunny late Spring Bank Holiday weekend.

The Channel 4 meteorologist said: “Temperatures have taken a bit of a tumble this week, with a distinctly cool feel. The nights have been chilly too, with a touch of frost in some rural areas.

“However, there are signs that another burst of warmth and sunshine will arrive into next week.”

The jet stream is expected to move north of the UK over the weekend meaning high pressure will build across the country.

Wales and England will see the building warmth first, from Saturday onwards.

Long-range predictions indicate mostly dry and warm conditions for the south and east of the UK and there is potential for some reasonably high temperatures in the run-up to the holiday on May 28.

According to latest computer models, temperatures could rise between 2°C and 5°C above normal for the week beginning May 21. And this spell of settled weather could last all the way until the beginning of next month.

A spokesperson from The Weather Channel said: “Moving into the last week of May, high pressure will continue to dominate the weather pattern. “A prominent Scandinavian ridge is expected to bring further dry and settled weather through to the end of May with widely above normal temperatures.”

However, the forecaster added that the warmth across western Europe is expected to wane heading into the start of June when more changeable conditions are expected to dominate.
