Little son or daughter on way for ace Phillips

-

WALES rugby legend Mike Phillips has announced that he and his wife are expecting a baby.

The 94-times capped Wales international announced he and his wife of one year are going to become parents.

Phillips, 35, posted a picture on Instagram yesterday morning of the couple on a beach in the Maldives with the sun beaming down, with Phillips cradling his wife’s baby bump.

The picture was accompanied by the message: “Can’t wait to become a Dad. Happy anniversary to my wife. 1 fantastic year! #Babymoon”.

The news comes after Phillips announced in May 2017 that he had got married – just a fortnight after retiring.

He revealed the news at the time by posting an image of him and his mystery bride on Twitter with the simple caption “Mr and Mrs Phillips”.

Phillips began his career in Llanelli before joining Cardiff Blues in 2005, then joining up with the Ospreys in 2007 before heading to France and playing for Bayonne in 2011.

Two years later he moved to Racing 92 and played there from 2013-16 before returning to the UK to play for Sale Sharks for a season in 2016-17, from where he retired.

The former Wales and British Lions scrum-half came out of retirement this season to join up with the Scarlets for their two-match tour of South Africa, providing cover for games against the Southern Kings and Cheetahs.
